Kaul-Tech is a venture founded at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science & Technology (AIST) in Japan in 2017. Our goal is to develop innovative logistics and technologies that support human Quality of Life (QOL) under normal, stressed, and diseased circumstances. Our research is inspired by our findings on the mechanisms of stress and disease, as well as the positive effects of certain herbs and their active components on stress, aging, cancer, and neurodegeneration. With over 30 years of research on the molecular mechanisms of these ailments, as well as over 20 years of merging traditional knowledge with modern technologies, we have chosen Ashwagandha as a champion herb for supporting human health and QOL in scenarios of environmental stresses, increasing old age societies, and old age-associated pathologies such as cancers and brain dysfunctions (memory, insomnia, and cognitive functions). In addition to Ashwagandha, KAUL-Tech is also researching and developing products utilizing Propolis, Soyasapogenol, and Fucoxanthin in collaboration with leading institutions worldwide.
KAUL-Tech is committed to producing premium brands of Ashwagandha and other carefully selected herbs. Their extracts are enriched with active ingredients for various purposes, including cancer treatment, functional food, and cosmetics.medicine, functional food and cosmetics.
KAUL-Tech has dedicated around 20 years to researching and developing cultivation techniques for producing Active Ingredient Enriched (AIE) Ashwagandha. This herb offers several potential health benefits, including stress management, cancer treatment, and improving the quality of life in normal, stressed, and diseased states, including COVID-19. Additionally, KAUL-Tech has developed technologies for producing bioactive therapeutic extracts.
Propolis, also known as bee glue or bee wax, is produced by honeybees by mixing their saliva with the botanical materials they live on or visit. The term propolis is derived from the Greek words “Pro” meaning ‘in front of’ or ‘at the entrance to’, and “Polis” meaning ‘community’ or ‘city’; and it describes the substances used to make and defend the hive. It has been extensively used in traditional home-medicine and healthcare since ancient times and has been listed as an official drug in London pharmacopeias of the 17th century. Several research labs have investigated bioactive constituents of propolis and have defined a wide range of their bioactivities. These include antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective and anticancer. Recent research evidence to the mechanisms of action of these activities has promoted its use as nutritional, cosmetic and pharmaceutical substance. It is constantly marketed in Japan with sales exceeding US$300 million/year.The quality and composition of propolis depends on its geographic location, climatic zone and local flora. The New Zealand and Brazilian green propolis are the two main kinds that have been extensively studied in recent years. Some unfavorable characteristics of propolis include high viscosity, pungent taste, poor solubility in water, sensitivity to light and heat because of high polyphenol content, and low bioavailability. Furthermore, Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE), a major bioactive in New Zealand propolis, has been reported to be heat-sensitive and easily degradable. Such sensitive compounds can be protected by coating of sugar such as gamma cyclodextrin. Several research studies have reported enhanced anticancer, neurogeneration and memory enhancing functions of gamma-CD coated CAPE. Based on these, premium brands of propolis containing standard amount of active ingredient with high stability and edibility are required to make best of its health-promoting and therapeutic potentials. In the current pandemic, several research studies have documented the usefulness of propolis as a valuable natural amalgam for management of Covid-19. In view of these benefits, KAUL-Tech aims to generate and market premium brands of propolis for global health supplements and cosmetic products. We also aim to develop unique combinations of specific natural resources for the benefit of mankind.
